Justin Jaymes

Justin Jaymes grew up in a tight knit musical family. A native New Englander, he grew up in Connecticut but eventually followed his family to South Carolina. Surrounded by a large extended family on his mother’s side, Justin spent many weekends during his formative years listening to his mother and her siblings sing & harmonize popular gospel songs.

Music was a big part of family culture and weekend jam sessions were a common occurrence in the home. Justin’s mother, an amateur singer, graced many clubs in her youth and served as an early source of inspiration for him.

By age 10, he was introduced to and mastered the drums and just five years later, he added guitar to his repertoire. This immersive experience led to many invaluable connections in his native musical community and eventually, to him also playing out.

Justin left South Carolina and headed north in search of new inspiration, eventually settling in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region. He quickly became a staple at Laconia’s legendary bike week which fortuitously allowed him to meet Joe Droukas (a seasoned and well known professional singer/songwriter). The pair soon forged a successful working relationship resulting in many memorable live performances and studio recordings which lasted until Joe’s untimely passing.

During a ‘Celebration of Life’ service for Joe, Justin serendipitously met another songwriter (Ernest Thompson) who he immediately connected with. Soon after the two established a professional relationship and would go on to co-write many songs. Their partnership proved fruitful and still continues to thrive to this day.

Justin has shared the stage with some musical greats and has had the distinct privilege of working with Buddy Cage of New Riders, blues icon Diamond Teeth Mary, the legendary Papa John Creach and Spencer Davis with Blue Oyster Cult (some of the best and most respected music legends of this generation). Career highlights include performances at the BankNH Pavilion supporting acts like the Zac Brown Band.

Like so many touring musicians, the Pandemic put the brakes on Justin playing out and prompted him to focus more on writing and recording his own original music, a long-held aspiration and most welcome shift.

He credits his family, close friends and fellow collaborators for their unwavering support and inspiration and especially his wife Pamela (his biggest fan) and Ernest Thompson who he regards as a brother.

When not writing original material or engaged in a co-writing session, Justin can be found advancing his knowledge of frequency healing through sound – a type of sonic healing modality and his newfound calling
