BRUCE MARSHALL

Bruce Marshall has been a full time, independent singer-songwriter and guitarist for over 40 years, with seven albums released to date and many co-writes with other artists in his award-winning, large and diverse song catalogue. Marshall enjoyed early success with Bruce Marshall and the Clue, a Boston-based band that saw significant airplay in their heyday, before joining forces with Toy Caldwell (founder of the Marshall Tucker Band) to record his hit “Welcome to the Human Race” featuring Toy on guitar.
He subsequently formed The Bruce Marshall Group—his current line-up—focusing on blues-inspired original music. Marshall wrote “If Dreams Were Money,” a song that won him the ASCAP Songwriter’s Award; the track was recorded by Michael Allman and, more recently, by Micah Willis (also on Verdict). He co-wrote “I Don’t Want to Have a Heart” with James Montgomery, released on the James Montgomery Band album Detroit to the Delta.
Most recently, his song “Devil’s in the Delta” – a swamp-blues style track co-written with his wife Michelle – was recorded by American bluesman Kenny Neal and Micah Willis and released on Verdict as a single in February 2025; the song has garnered considerable radio attention and listener acclaim, and its companion music video—filmed in Louisiana, Neal’s home turf—captures the essence of the delta.
Marshall has toured extensively, sharing the stage with national acts such as B.B. King, Gregg Allman, James Brown, Chicago, and the Beach Boys, and represented New England twice at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis (2008 and 2010). When not writing, recording, or performing, he mentors other musicians by hosting open mics—an activity he enjoys immensely as a way to give back to the loyal music community that has supported him since the very start.
Verdict Music proudly welcomes Bruce Marshall to its artist roster; his full-length debut album Vintage to Verdict (2023) is now available to stream on all major platforms.
